This WordPress Theme powers a site to build collections of audio and video content (termed “items”) where contributions can be made without requiring logins or providing personally identifying information. This is done by using a generic author account that is silently activated. The user never sees any sign of the innards of WordPress but can create descriptions and provide more information for each media item added.
The options can allow you to offer a field for add the media by URL (For video, from YouTube or Vimeo, and for audio content from SoundCloud or any link to an mp3, ogg, or m4a sound. A site owner can also enable an upload button for sounds files in those same three formats. Other features are to provide fields for (and require or not), descriptions, a credit source name and a selection of a reuse licenses.
This is an improvement and enhancement of the first generation TRU Sounder SPLOT.
It offers a number of administrative options to enable/disable the audio upload, entries for media source and license data.
It’s a SPLOT imitating Powerpoint? No! But with this new theme you can create rich media click through “slides” (they are really just WordPress Posts), with big pretty buttons.
This is a “SPLOT-ified” version of the Intergalactic free theme used previously with custom modifications for presentations that live on the web.
Now all of this can be created, presented, and wowed with a simple WordPress Theme… and it makes use of the Customizer to tweak things.

The idea for this SPLOT came from TRU Open Learning instructional designers Kelly Warnock and Melissa Jakubec. They were planning a workshop on searching for image media and asked if a SPLOT could be built that would create a place where people could add found images, and that could be done without asking them to create accounts.
Thus was born the TRU Collector. Visitors to the site can upload any image, and provide a name for credit, select categories to organize them, add tags, and provide information to credit the source of the found images.
In addition, the site supports uploads of animated GIFs; animation is preserved for images smaller than 600px in width.
Such a collection could be created for a department or a single class where it might be useful to create a sharable set of images.
